It was a successful weekend for high school cross-country runners.
Manitowoc Lincoln was the Shawano Hawk Invitational on Saturday, where the girls finished 4th as a team out of 27th schools, while the boys came in 8th. Natalie Portmann earned a medal for the Ships, coming in 5th overall.
Her male counterpart, Reid Stryzewski, also earned a medal thanks to his 8th-place finish, which was the best for any sophomore at the meet.
Meanwhile, Roncalli hosted a meet at Lincoln Park, where the Two Rivers Boys finished 2nd, Manitowoc Lutheran was 4th, Valders came in 5th, and the host Jets finished 8th out of 10 teams.
The Raiders’ Eli Gallagher earned an individual gold, while Carson Kadow and Brice Radandt finished 4th and 8th, respectively.
The Lancers’ top finish was Ryder Vogt, who came in 11th place, while Valders’ Gunnar Romuald was 10th, and Jason Harrison of Roncalli was 15th.
On the girls’ side, Valders, led by Hannah Welch’s 4th place finish, came in 2nd as a team, followed by Two Rivers, and Lutheran finished 6th.
The Raider girls were led by Breanne Kulpa’s 6th place finish and an 8th place finish by Ashley Groothoff, while the Lancer’s top runner was Adriel Barthel, who came in 17th.
