Students in Jefferson are returning to class following a small fire at East Elementary School.
The fire broke out in the school’s basement early yesterday morning, around 4:45 AM, but no injuries were reported.
Classes at East were canceled for the day.
Today, students will attend classes in other district buildings, with some heading to West Elementary while others will go to Jefferson Middle School and Jefferson High School.
The district has begun cleaning and repairs at East Elementary, aiming to have students back in their usual classrooms by October 1st.
