Governor Tony Evers’ 400-year school funding increase is facing new legal challenges.
Yesterday, the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty (WILL) and the Institute for Reforming Government submitted amicus briefs to the Wisconsin Supreme Court, questioning the governor’s use of his veto power.
Evers modified a line in the state budget, turning a two-year funding boost into a 400-year extension.
WILL attorney Skylar Croy called the move “dangerous and unconstitutional,” arguing that no individual in state government should wield the power to alter state law in a way that binds taxpayers for centuries.
