A Kiel man is dead following a car accident early Friday (September 20th) morning.
Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig says deputies were called to the area of County Highway X and Louis Corners Road in the Town of Schleswig on a report of a two-vehicle head-on collision.
Hartwig says the initial investigation shows that an 18-year-old man from Malone, Wisconsin was driving Volkswagen Jetta when it collided with a Ford Focus driven by the 72-year-old Kiel man.
The 72-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene while the 18-year-old was taken to TheadaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah in serious condition.
Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting with the crash reconstruction.
The crash is still under investigation.
Hartwig also thanked several emergency agencies including Wisconsin State Patrol, Kiel Police, Fire and EMS, New Holstein Fire, TheadaStar, the Manitowoc County Coroner’s Office, Manitowoc County Joint Dispatch Center, Manitowoc County Highway Department, and Hi-Way 42 Garage.
