No one was hurt following a gas leak at an ethanol plant southwest of Oshkosh.
The Utica Volunteer Fire Department’s Fire Chief Jay Roberts says firefighters were called to the Fox River Valley Ethanol Plant on Highway 91.
There, they found that an ammonia pipe had been cut, causing a significant gas leak.
Utica Fire requested help from the Oshkosh Fire Department’s hazmat team and established a safe perimeter.
The plant was evacuated for everyone’s safety as the hazmat team patched the leak.
After extensive air monitoring and ventilation, the plant was considered safe and turned back over to the maintenance staff to work on a more permanent solution.
The Utica Volunteer Fire Department thanked Oshkosh Firefighters for their swift response and remediation of the incident.
They also thanked employees for their help and collaboration for a safe and effective solution in a timely manner.
