A Sheboygan native has won the Miss Asian Global Pageant competition.
Last month, Raine Xiong was honored at the competition, which was created in response to the underrepresentation of Asian women in mainstream pageantry and pop culture.
Xiong made history by becoming the first Hmong American to be named Miss Asian Global, the highest honor the pageant has to offer.
Xiong is currently a student studying at Stanford University but calls the City of Sheboygan home.
She has a passion for activism, helping those less fortunate, and hopes to one day become a lawyer to change the justice system for the better.
Xiong was one of 17 individuals to receive honors at the Miss Asian Global competition in San Francisco last month.
