The Manitowoc County Board of Supervisors wants the state to do more for mental health funding.
Last week, the board approved a resolution to support an increase in state mental health funding, specifically in the Medical Assistance (MA) and Community Support programs (CSP).
The resolution explains that the state helps fund both services, but some counties, like Manitowoc, are having trouble using tax levy revenue because of strict tax levy limits.
That means it’s difficult for counties to maintain Community Support Programs.
The resolution asks that the state provide funding to counties in an amount that will cover the full non-federal share of MA and CSP and crisis intervention services in the 2025-2027 budget.
The resolution was unanimously approved by the board supervisors in attendance.
A copy will be sent to Governor Evers’ office and state legislatures.
