For the first time, less than half of the freshman class at UW-Madison hails from Wisconsin.
According to enrollment data released Monday, the 2024 freshman class has 8,500 students—a 7% increase from last year.
However, only 3,800 of those students are from Wisconsin, with the remainder coming from other parts of the U.S.
UW-Madison continues to attract high interest.
This year, nearly 66,000 freshman applications were received, with almost 80% of them being rejected.
