A homeless shelter in Milwaukee, Guest House, has informed those living in a tent encampment across the street that they must vacate the area.
Residents have been living on the property for several months, but the shelter claims the situation has escalated.
According to Steve Bauer from Guest House, there have been issues with fighting and drug use among the camp’s residents, leading to frequent police intervention.
The shelter has now set a deadline of October 12th for the camp to be cleared.
While there are questions about the rights of the homeless as potential tenants, Bauer expressed that evicting them is not something anyone wants to do, but the shelter feels they have no alternative.
