Manitowoc County’s Clerk wants to make residents aware of mailers being sent out for the upcoming November election.
Jessica Backus announced that residents are getting mail from third-party vendors that are voter registration or absentee ballot request forms.
They are not ballots.
Backus continues to say that both forms have the appropriate title listed at the top of the form and can be used to register to vote or request an absentee ballot.
If you submit an absentee ballot request, the voter must provide a photo ID if the clerk doesn’t have it on file from a previous request.
Backus also reminds residents to make sure that if they put in an absentee voting request, the address goes back to the correct municipal clerk’s address because, a majority of the time, the correct address is not listed.
Open voter registration ends on October 16th, with late registration starting on October 17th and going through November 1st.
Absentee ballots can be requested through October 31st, while in-person absentee ballot voting starts on October 22nd.
