Sheboygan’s Department of Public Works has announced the dates for the city’s fall leaf collection.
The Fall Leaf Collection Program will begin on October 7th and run until November 22nd allowing citizens to dispose of their leaves in a fast and easy manner.
City ordinances prohibit the raking of leaves into street gutters, but the collection program makes an exception for the seven weeks.
The Department of Public Works has divided the city into five sections to make their collection more efficient.
Residents are also encouraged to find alternatives for discarding leaves such as mulching them while mowing lawns or to bag them and bring the leaves to drop-off sites.
When raking leaves into the street gutter, rake them away from the curb to allow the flow of water and to prevent storm drains from flooding.
The city also requests leaf piles not be placed near vehicles without branches, sod, pumpkins, or other debris, as collection equipment is not designed to handle such materials.
Locations of the five city sections for leaf collection can be found online at sheboyganwi.gov.
