A Manitowoc woman was arrested after her child accused her of abusing them.
Officers responded to a home in the 2600 block of South 21st Street just before 4:00 Monday evening to investigate a reported runaway child.
The 31-year-old woman told police that the child, whose age and gender were redacted from the police report, left the home without permission on September 19th after an altercation.
The woman admitted to hitting the child after they had been acting “smart” towards her.
The child was located two and a half hours later in the area of South 21st and Phillippen Streets, and an officer approached her.
The child told the officer they didn’t want to go back home because their mother had punched them “multiple times.”
The child provided photographs of the damage the strikes caused, leading to the mother’s arrest.
After she, again, admitted to striking the child, she was taken to the Manitowoc County Jail on a charge of Physical Abuse of a Child Intentionally Causing Harm.
