Officials have reported the discovery of a rabid bat in Eau Claire last week.
The City-County Health Department stated the bat was found near La Salle and Peterson Streets and was unable to fly.
Health authorities are urging anyone who may have been in contact with the bat to seek medical attention immediately.
While there have been no reports of bites or scratches, the department warns that rabid animals can still pose a potential threat.
