The Village of St. Nazianz has been awarded millions of dollars in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The grant is worth $4 million and will go towards updating the infrastructure of the wastewater treatment plant.
The wastewater plant was originally built in 1980 and has received several modifications over the years; however, the aging infrastructure is in dire need of upgrading.
This federal funding will be spent on improving operation control, effluent quality, and compliance to meet the Northeast Lakeshore phosphorus total maximum daily load (TMDL).
Aging pumping and filtration equipment will also be replaced with up-to-date technology to improve efficiency.
This is just one of 116 projects being funded through the USDA to expand access to safe drinking water, reliable electric grids, and good-paying jobs for people in rural areas.
Funding for these projects originates from President Joe Biden’s Investing in America agenda.
