The GBCI inmate charged with killing his other inmate will be going to trial.
WBAY TV reports that a judge yesterday set 24-year-old Jackson Vogel’s case for trail in August after a preliminary hearing yesterday (October 3rd).
Vogel is facing 1st-degree intentional homicide charges in the death of 19-year-old Michael Laureano.
Vogel allegedly admitted to a corrections officer that he killed Laureano because of his race and sexual orientation, which means a hate crime enhancer was added to the charge.
Vogel is in prison for an attempted homicide in Manitowoc County in 2017 when he stabbed on of his family members.
He’ll be arraigned on October 15th.
