The Two Rivers Police Chief says there’s been a sense of closure since the remains of Elijah Vue were found.
Police Chief Ben Meinnert made those comments during his appearance on WOMT’s Be My Guest program this morning (October 4th).
He says there is now closure for his department, the family, and the community.
He also can’t believe how far this case has reached, in some cases on a nationwide scale.
Meinnert says while he understands the public wants answers law enforcement needs to find what happened to the toddler.
“That in investigation is of the upmost importance to us, so we’re not going to take that lightly,” he stated. “So, we’ll be thorough and when we have something we will let the public know.”
Elijah’s remains were found off Kristy Bob Lane and Manitou Drive in the town of Two Rivers last month.
Two Rivers Police confirmed the remains during a press conference on September 13th.
Meinnert said during the conference that any new information will be coming from the Wisconsin Department of Investigation and the Manitowoc County DA’s Office.
No new charges have been filed in the case; however, Elijah’s mother Katrina Baur and his caretaker Jesse Vang are facing chronic child neglect charges for incidents that happened before the toddler went missing.
Baur is due in court later this month. Vang will be back in court in November.
