It was a busy couple of hours for Kiel Fire and Rescue yesterday.
Fire Lieutenant Kyle Preissner says they were first called to a garage fire in the 600 block of 2nd Street yesterday at 4:51 p.m.
They found a detached garage with heavy smoke and fire showing when they arrived.
Firefighters immediately used a fire hose and began attacking the flames inside and outside the garage.
The fire was under control in about two minutes, and crews stayed on the scene to investigate. No one was injured, but the damage caused by the fire isn’t yet known.
Later that evening, a little after 6:30 p.m., Kiel Fire and Rescue were called to a motorcycle-versus-truck accident at 6th and Paine Street.
When crews arrived, they determined that a medical helicopter was needed based on an initial assessment of the person injured.
The helicopter arrived and took the patient away, but Kiel Fire and Rescue didn’t disclose where. The patient’s condition is unknown.
The fire and rescue department thanked Kiel Electric, Kiel Police, the Manitowoc County Joint Dispatch Center, and Theda Star for their help.
