A big Green Bay Packers home win can be attributed to the offensive and defensive line play.
The Pack took down the Arizona Cardinals 34-13 in a game that started with the weather playing a factor.
Nearly 78,000 people funneled into Lambeau Field under cloudy, rainy skies, and watched Jordan Love lead his offense to four touchdowns while Brayden Narveson tacked on a pair of field goals.
Love went untouched in his 32 attempts, giving him time to toss for 258 yards and the aforementioned four touchdowns.
The offensive line was also able to control the line of scrimmage on run plays, with the right side moving the Arizona defenders five yards downfield on one play in their first drive.
Head Coach Matt Lafleur had high praises for the guys up front, noting just how hard they made it for the Arizona pass rush.
He joked, “I think usually it’s pretty frustrating when (Jordan Love) is baking a pizza back there and has a long time to throw.”
Center Josh Meyers attributes a lot of the line’s success to them all knowing exactly what they are supposed to be doing.
“I think our guys have done a great job communicating, of being on the same page…(and) our backs, just running so hard,” he told Seehafer News.
Meyers did go down with an injury in the second half, which he told Seehafer Nerws was a stinger in his snapping hand.
This required Eglton Jenkins to move to center, Jordan Morgan to play Right Guard, and Sean Ryan to move to Left Guard, which he explained is not the easiest thing to do.
“The same guy might have a different technique on the left and on the right,” he explained before admitting, “I got that false start because I was jumping the gun a little bit.”
Morgan’s return to the field was several weeks in the making as he last played in an NFL game when the Packers beat the Colts in week 2
He rotated in and out with Rhyan, which was something that was planned throughout the week.
He said, “Missing a few weeks and going back out there, you’re a little rusty, but it’s going to be like that.”
The Packers defense also played phenomenal, forcing three fumbles. Cornerback Eric Stokes tells Seehafer News that is no accident.
“(It’s) the way we practice,” he said. “We practice turn overs. We emphasize turnovers everyday and it shows up in the game.”
Love got the defense to bite on the hard count three times in the first quarter, which set the tone early for him and the O-line.
He gave credit to the guys up front for staying disciplined despite a rowdy Green Bay crowd.
Love also said it’s something they work on each and every week, which Meyers also told us.
“I think he was just committed to switching it up and consistently changing it,” the center explained. “Our cadence system is great in the way that we are able to manipulate it.”
With the win, the Packers improve to 4-2, 2-1 since the return of Jordan Love. They will be back at Lambeau Field next Sunday for a noon kickoff against C.J Stroud and the Houston Texans.
