Wisconsin Public Service is reminding residents to stay safe around natural gas.
WPS provides natural gas to 24 counties in northeastern and central Wisconsin and maintains nearly 7,392 miles of delivery system pipeline.
Those who are looking to dig anywhere on their property are encouraged to locate any pipelines that may be underground.
The best way to do that is to call WPS at 811, or visit the National Pipeline Mapping System website.
If you are digging and smell a strong odor, hear a hissing or blowing sound, or see dirt blowing into the air or water bubbling, you should stop digging and call 911.
