The driver who was found dead after his vehicle went into the water near the Washington Island Carferry has been identified.
The Door County Sheriff’s Office announced that 74-year-old David M. Whitton of Green Bay passed away.
An autopsy was done by the Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office last Friday (October 11th), but results are still pending.
The incident is still under investigation; no other information has been released.
Door County Sheriffs were called to the ferry dock after a 2019 Lincoln SUV drove past the ticket area on Highway 42 before it approached the ferry dock and fell into the water.
The area was closed for about eight hours while emergency crews were working.
