A local police K9 was the winner of an event at an annual police K9 gathering.
Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig explained on WOMT’s Be My Guest program that K9 Rocky and his handler Deputy John Schwede took 1st place in a narcotics challenge at the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Canine Handler Association Conference held this year in Fond du Lac.
Hartwig says there were almost 160 other canines competing in that event from around the state last week (October 6th-9th).
He says it’s a tribute to all the training that Deputy Schwede and Rocky do and the award is a good thing.
Next year’s conference will be held in Eau Claire.
