Wisconsin’s budget surplus has grown to more than $4.5 billion, according to the latest figures from the state’s Department of Revenue, released yesterday.
The final numbers reveal a $4.6 billion excess beyond state spending.
Additionally, Wisconsin has saved nearly $2 billion in rainy-day funds.
Governor Tony Evers has expressed interest in using this surplus for reinvestment in the next state budget.
However, Republican lawmakers have previously stated their preference to return the funds to Wisconsin residents.
