New details from a criminal complaint help show what might have happened to Elijah Vue.
The complaint from the Manitowoc County District Attorney’s Office alleges that Elijah was both physically and mentally hurt before his remains were found in the Town of Two Rivers.
The compliant says things already known about the case including that Jesse Vang and Katrina Baur were looking to correct Elijah’s “poor behavior.”
According to police, Vang told them he would withhold food as a punishment and would threaten the toddler with cold showers.
New information from the complaint shows some of the over 15,000 messages sent between Baur and Vang.
The complaint alleges that Vang made Elijah stand and pray for hours and told Baur about what he was doing to correct the “poor behavior.”
The document further alleges that on the morning of September 14th a picture was taken of Elijah with him wearing a black blindfold and having apparent bruising injuries on his face.
The image was deleted but police found it again while looking through both Vang and Baur’s phones.
It also shows more information about the Nissan Altima that police asked for security camera video from resident.
The complaint alleges that Vang was driving it when he dropped off a black suitcase to the St. Vincent de Paul Store in Two Rivers at their donation door.
Members of the Wisconsin State Crime Lab were able to take the DNA from the suitcase which came back to Elijah Vue.
The human remains were also analyzed after being found and a child abuse pediatrician found that Elijah was a “diagnostic for physical abuse, psychological and emotional maltreatment, and neglect.
Baur and Vang will be in court again today (October 18th) for another bail hearing.
