The New Holstein Police Department is telling residents about a recent scam.
An announcement on their Facebook page says that they’ve received a phone call from Holy Rosary Church advising them that someone has been attempting to use the church to perpetuate a scam.
The victims have gotten texts indicating that the pastor needs money and requesting Apple Gift Cards.
New Holstein Police say they’ve confirmed that they are not running any fundraising events where they would ask for gift cards.
According to police, the church also won’t send a text message asking for monetary donations.
