A new business venture may be on the way in the former Two Rivers Elks Club location.
At the Two Rivers City Council meeting earlier this week, discussions were tabled for a later date involving the Violet Inn Lounge and Spa moving into the 1415 16th Street location.
The land is a historic downtown property that has become abandoned and blighted in recent years.
The proposed plan would use TID grants for partial funding to purchase the land and further develop the former Elks Club.
If approved, the project’s estimated total cost would range from $1 million to $1.6 million.
The Violet Inn Lounge and Spa would be a boutique hotel with six rooms, spa amenities, and a cocktail lounge open to the public and hotel guests.
Two Rivers wishes to assist the successful redevelopment of the location to enhance the tax base and increase job opportunities.
The council tabled the discussion to give Milkweed Ventures LLC and its attorneys more time to review the TID grant.
While not official yet, City Manager Greg Buckley has recommended the City Council approve the agreement which would positively affect downtown Two Rivers.
