A significant fire in Fond du Lac County took down a corn bailer.
WBAY reports that just before 1:30 pm yesterday (October 24th), the Brandon Fairwater and Alto Fire Department and Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a fire on Highway 44.
They found the landowner, who told them his corn bailer caught fire, which spread into his field.
Fire crews were able to put out the bailer fire, but it took some extra time to put out the fire in the corn bails and recently cut cornfields.
A total of five acres of field were burned.
According to the farmer, that’s a $9,000 total loss on the land.
No one was injured, and no other property was damaged by fire.
