The Sheboygan Police Department has celebrated the first anniversary of their Victim Services program.
At this time last year, the police department, in partnership with the International Association for Chiefs of Police, received grant funding to create and support a program that focused on aiding victims of crime.
The goal of the Sheboygan Victims Services program is to empower crime victims to use their voices, understand their rights, and connect with supportive resources in the community.
Since the program’s inception, they have helped over 230 crime victims, including both female and male victims of domestic violence and victims of assault.
While aiming to support crime victims, the Victim Services program has also provided internal training at the police department to better equip all officers when working with the victim of a crime.
More information on the Victim Services program of the Sheboygan Police Department can be found online on their Facebook page.
