Local businesses have been sharing their strategies for employment through surveys.
Jamie Zastrow, the Executive Director of Progress Lakeshore, spoke about some of the annual surveys they put out each year during a recent episode of WOMT’s Lakeshore Business Compass radio show.
She explained that the surveys are very similar each year, with a few tweaks, but they allow people to “watch trends and be able to see what is changing in your community among your employers.”
Progress Lakeshore conducts two surveys per year.
Zastrow explained, “One is focused on benefits and turnover, and then one is focused on wages and different employment practices that employers are using.”
Zastrow said that they typically see between 40 and 50 local business participate in the surveys each year spanning a wide range of business types.
“Obviously, manufacturing is the largest industry represented, that does reflect our community, but we also know that businesses really are competing for employees across industries, in many job categories,” she noted. “They aren’t all specific skill related, so it’s good to see how you are comparing across industries.”
