Expanded beach access for pets could be coming to the City of Sheboygan.
The Sheboygan Public Works Committee met inside city hall’s council chambers on Tuesday (October 29th), and one item they discussed involved increasing the number of locations where pets are permitted.
One of these locations includes the beach area north of North Point Overlook between the Sheboygan Water Utility facility and the Wisconsin Maritime Marker.
This would be a designated off-leash area permitting pets to roam free, provided they are under immediate control.
Another on-leash location where pets may be allowed is the North Point Overlook pedestrian path.
Here, pets must be on a leash not exceeding eight feet or a retractable leash no more than 15 feet in length.
The Public Works Committee approved the ordinance, meaning it will now go to the Sheboygan City Council for full approval.
The city council will vote on the ordinance at its next meeting on November 4th.
