A last-day push for Wisconsin’s Republican US Senate nominee.
Businessman Eric Hovde stopped in Manitowoc at Metal Art on North Rapids Rd. to fire up his base before tomorrow’s election.
Owner Shane Henderson explained that he wanted to do anything to help the cause because his family was the picture of the American Dream.
One thing that costs his businesses is inflation passed onto customers, and he blames the Biden Administration for it.
“Cost of goods has definitely gone up, but just less people are buying,” he said. “They have less money to buy flags and stuff. Not a super big necessity other than at Christmas.”
Hovde didn’t come alone.
1st District Congressman Bryan Steil, Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, and Wyoming Senator John Barrasso all joined the businessman, explaining their need for change in the US Senate, which is controlled by Democrats but by a slim margin.
After comments from each about issues like domestic energy, the importance of having the power of appointments, and firing Tammy Baldwin, Hovde took the floor and first talked about how it’s been a long nine months on the campaign trail, but it’s worth it
“Because I look at that flag up there,” he said reflectively, “We love our country. That’s why you are all here today. We love our country. But sometimes in the last four years, I don’t recognize my country anymore.”
Hovde then told the crowd about the difference between what he believes and what the “left” believes. The speech eventually led to what he wants to do with Donald Trump if he’s elected.
“We want to promote our free-market Capitalists system that has made us the most wealthy country in the history of mankind,” he said to a cheering crowd. “What do these two (Harris and Baldwin) want to do, they want to drag us down that path of socialism that impoverishes its people and only the people at the very top benefit.”
Seehafer News asked the Republican Candidate what he would want to do first if he is elected.
“First you have to deal with inflation,” he explained. “It’s hammered way too many people. And we have to stop the reckless spending that has fueled inflation. We have to put pro-growth policies like deregulation that is hammering so many businesses and farmers.”
The race between Hovde and Incumbent Tammy Baldwin has been considered too close to call according to some polls.
The latest Marquette Poll showed Baldwin with a 51-49% lead with some margin of error.
