After a very tight race, the 26th Assembly District has been shaded blue.
Joe Sheehan has been declared the winner of the district covering the City of Sheboygan south to Oostburg.
Only 843 votes separated him from Republican Amy Binsfeld.
We were able to speak with Joe Sheehan, who came out victorious.
“The fun has just started,” Sheehan said with a smile.
He continued, “My whole focus is to get people involved and to get excited about it. I’m convinced that there are quiet Republicans and Democrats that want to work together, and I will be one of the leaders to make it happen.”
Sheehan tells us he learned a lot during the race, especially as he was the target of many negative ads.
“I joked to people, if you really want to do soul searching, run for office because you can’t hide what your values and my values are, getting people involved so decisions can be made.”
He added emphatically, “I’m a little overly optimistic sometimes, but you can win by being positive!”
Other Assembly winners were Shae Sortwell in District 2, Ron Tussler in District 3, Paul Tittl in District 25, Lindee Brill in District 27, and Robert Brooks in District 59, all of whom are Republicans.
