Dave’s Who’s Inn of Sheboygan is seeking thousands in financial losses from the city due to their temporary closure earlier this year.
Holden and Hahn, legal counsel for Dave’s Who’s Inn owner and operator Dave Ripinski, has given the City of Sheboygan a notice of claim stating they are entitled to $12,935 in losses.
These losses came following the city’s revocation of Dave’s Who’s Inn’s liquor license and subsequent closure from July 1st through August 5th.
The dispute arose after the city placed conditions on Repinski’s liquor license, including no minors being allowed on the premises and requiring the use of metal detection wands on every single patron that entered the bar.
These conditions were considered excessive, unfair, and with no concrete end date.
This is the conclusion the Sheboygan Licensing, Hearings, and Public Safety Committee reached at its July 25th meeting.
That conclusion allowed Dave’s Who’s Inn to reopen under new conditions, which the committee, Sheboygan Police Department, and Repinski agreed upon.
Now, upon reopening, Repinski is searching for compensation for lost profits for reasons the city themselves has determined to be unfair.
The City Council again referred this matter to the Licensing, Hearings, and Public Safety Committee, which will discuss it at its meeting next week.
