According to Attorney General Josh Kaul’s annual update, Wisconsin’s school safety tip line received a large number of reports on bullying.
Of the more than 5,000 tips submitted last year, only 2% (114) were related to potential threats or planned attacks on schools.
Additionally, 135 tips were about guns, weapons, or explosives.
The majority of the submissions—most of which were about bullying and cyberbullying—highlight the ongoing concerns over student safety.
Kaul noted a 40% rise in tips compared to the previous year, calling the increase a positive sign of growing awareness.
With the program’s funding running out, lawmakers will be asked to allocate additional resources to the tip line next year.
