The City of Sheboygan is moving forward with the demolition of the Former Wells Fargo Bank Building.
At the Sheboygan Public Works Committee meeting last night (November 12th), approval was given to the city to enter into a contract with Scott’s Excavating, the company tasked with the project.
The building is a four-level complex that includes a basement, a bank vault, and a drive-through canopy used by bank tellers and customers.
The demolition of the former bank building located in Downtown Sheboygan at 828 Center Avenue comes after the city purchased the land earlier this year with hopes of a future housing development.
As part of the $241,500 contract, Scott’s Excavating will also remove asbestos and lead from the premises.
The money for the demolition is coming from the city’s TID number 21 fund.
While nothing is concrete yet, this is another step forward for the City’s future development plans in Downtown Sheboygan.
