In the spirit of Veterans Day, the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) has announced the winners of their 2024 Vet Ready Employer Awards.
The awards recognize Wisconsin employers who have gone above and beyond to hire and support veterans and their families.
Amongst the 22 winners announced, Northeastern Wisconsin businesses were very well represented, including Old Wisconsin Sausage Company of Sheboygan.
Other area recipients include Kimberly-Clark and Menasha Corporations in Neenah, as well as Worthington Cylinders out of Chilton.
On the winners, DWD Secretary Amy Pechacek said, “This distinction elevates the work of these employers and gives them the competitive edge in recruiting and retaining veterans.”
She also noted the struggles veterans may have when returning home, including finding work.
The effort of these companies is being recognized for doing the most to eliminate these struggles.
11 of the 22 winners were from the Northeastern Wisconsin region, and a full list of all recipients can be found online at dwd.wisconsin.gov.
