Recently reelected Congressman Glenn Grothman is celebrating the passage of a bill that he says will “take a significant step toward improving government efficiency.”
H.R. 5301, or the Eliminate Useless Reports Act, was co-written by Grothman and House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington, and it passed in the House of Representatives on a voice vote.
In a joint statement, the duo says the bill “will improve government efficiency in the budget process by eliminating the duplicative and redundant reports sent that Congress requires federal agencies to submit, saving taxpayer dollars and enhancing fiscal responsibility in Washington.”
They also note that the bi-partisan measure will “enhance the level of transparency and accountability in the congressional budget process to ensure taxpayer dollars are being used responsibly.”
Grothman also says the bill will “lead to savings for taxpayers, ensuring that their hard-earned money is used more effectively to support essential services and programs.”
The bill now heads to the Senate, where it will need to be approved before being sent to the president’s desk for final approval.
