With the holidays just around the corner, an area law enforcement agency is offering crime prevention tips.
The Oshkosh Police Department is offering residents the best ways to prevent package theft which sees an increase during this time.
First, they recommend always tracking packages online and having someone home when the item is set to be delivered.
It is also recommended to request items be dropped off near a side or back door so they are out of sight.
If you are unable to be home or have someone else home at the time of delivery, have packages delivered to a neighbor who is or to your work.
Their final tip is to get a lockable delivery box or garage door opener, which allows you to open and close it from anywhere so a delivery person can place it inside before you close the garage while you are away.
While Police in Oshkosh are giving this advice, it applies to anyone online shopping ahead of the holidays.
