A Waukesha County woman has been charged with child abandonment and neglect after police say she left her 12-year-old son on the side of I-94.
The Waukesha County District Attorney’s office filed the charges this week against 43-year-old Flor Escalante.
Authorities allege that Escalante kicked her son out of the car earlier this month following an argument over his grades.
Escalante reportedly told investigators that her son does not appreciate the things she does for him.
According to the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office, the boy was left on the side of the interstate near Calhoun Road and walked five miles to the Sylvan Learning Center in Brookfield.
The walk took place in 50-degree weather.
