Police in Omro are warning of a scam involving water utility payments.
The Omro Police Department shared online that a resident received an email from a scammer claiming the victim had an unpaid, overdue water utility bill.
The email also claimed that without immediate action on the false outstanding bill, late fees could be added on, or water services could be interrupted.
The email indicated it was from the Omro Water Utility Department, not the Omro Water and Sewer Department, which manages water utility payments.
Police have assured residents that the city would never contact citizens in this manner in regard to a late payment.
If you have also received a similar email from a scammer, police ask you not to open it and, if you do, not to click on the blue link given for payment.
