Wisconsin schools will receive a significant financial boost in the new year after voters approved a record $4.4 billion in school referendums.
A report from the Wisconsin Policy Forum highlights that a greater number of school districts succeeded in passing tax hikes this fall.
More than 77 percent of schools got the funds they requested in the fall election, compared to just over 60 percent in the spring.
While the Forum points to Wisconsin’s state funding model as a critical factor driving the need for local tax increases, some Republican lawmakers argue that many school districts could improve by better managing their existing budgets.
