Manitowoc Lutheran jumped out to a 13-point halftime lead and never looked back in defeating The Brillion Lions 76 to 56 in the high school girls’ basketball season opener for both teams in Brillion.
The Lancers led 37 to 24 at the break and scored 39 in the second half en route to the 20-point victory.
Three girls scored double figures for Manitowoc Lutheran, led by junior Marissa Melhorn’s 24 points. “G” Ermis added 19, and Makiah Krause chipped in 11.
Amaya Brooks led Brillion with 17 points, and Emma Schuh chipped in 12.
The Lions return to action Thursday night when they travel to Reedsville to meet The Panthers, while The Lancers host Two Rivers in their home opener next Tuesday night as part of a girl-boy doubleheader.
