A Milwaukee woman has been charged following an incident where her three-year-old son accidentally shot himself.
28-year-old Marqueesha Smith faces charges of child neglect after her son found a loaded firearm on the couch at their apartment near 64th and Bradley on Sunday evening.
The child unintentionally shot himself in the leg.
Police discovered several firearms in the apartment, including one in a backpack located near where the child played.
Smith’s bond was set at $5,000 during her court appearance on Monday.
Fortunately, the child is expected to recover from the injury.
