Health authorities are seeing a significant rise in pertussis (whooping cough) cases this year.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has confirmed over 1,700 cases so far this season, with nearly half affecting children and teenagers.
To prevent the disease from spreading further, the Centers for Disease Control recommends staying up-to-date on vaccinations and practicing good hygiene, such as frequent hand washing, to reduce the risk of transmission.
