Many Wisconsinites could receive assistance on energy costs ahead of the winter season.
U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin has announced that the state will be receiving $101 million in funding via the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
This is a federally funded program that helps families and households with energy costs by aiding in payments for gas, electricity, and other means used for heating a home.
LIHEAP can also be used for low-income families to weatherize homes, thus making them more energy efficient. Additionally, the program can help during disasters and extreme weather by mitigating energy emergencies.
Funding for the program comes through government funding legislation and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
