The Manitowoc Lincoln Girls Basketball season is officially in full swing. Head Coach Riley Garbe believes that having fun is the first step in the team’s path to success.
Coach Garbe told SeehaferNews.com, “So, our number one goal is to have fun. If we focus on working together, being great teammates, building a positive culture, and getting better at little things each day, winning will come naturally.”
Garbe also noted that the team has shown significant improvement since he was hired.
“When you take over a depleted program like I did 3 years ago, you always want to build on the previous season in the first 3-5 years. We’ve done that,” he said. “We plan to continue to do that. We lost a pair of all-conference players, but we have some amazing young players taking big leaps.”
Creating a fun, positive, but still constructive environment is very important to Head Coach Garbe and his assistant coaches.
He further explained their coaching strategies, saying, “We want to create a fun and exciting practice atmosphere, focus on celebrations, bring positive energy, have coaching that builds up player confidence and helps them develop, not play scared.”
The Ships will open their season at home against Mishicot on Tuesday, November 26th.
The squad will also collect donations for The Haven Men’s Homeless Shelter that night.
