Midwest meat products have been recalled due to a possible E. coli contamination.
The Wolverine Packing Company of Detroit, Michigan, has recalled over 165,000 pounds of ground beef products.
The ground beef products include both fresh and frozen ground beef.
The fresh ground beef products included in the recall have a use-by date of 11/14/24, while the frozen ground beef will be labeled with the 10/22/24 production date.
An investigation of the products began when the Minnesota Department of Agriculture notified the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) that a group of ill people had consumed ground beef prior.
A link was found between those who had fallen ill and the Wolverine Packing Company products; thus, the recall was put in place.
Currently, 15 cases in Minnesota have been attributed to ground beef products. As many of these recalled ground beef products may be in freezers, the FSIS urges the public to check and throw out any you find.
