The Wisconsin Maritime Museum is inviting the public to learn all about a ship that was lost on Lake Michigan.
On Saturday (November 23rd) at 5:00 p.m., the museum will host a presentation on the story of Rouse Simmons, more popularly known as the Christmas Tree Ship.
The three-mastered ship was bound for Chicago with a cargo of an estimated 4,000 evergreen trees when it sunk in a violent storm, taking the lives of all on board.
The ship’s resting place was a mystery for 59 years until it was discovered off the coast of Two Rivers in 1971.
The presentation will explain more details of the ship’s history and its impact on maritime history.
The doors and bar will open at 4:30 p.m.
