The City of Manitowoc is reminding residents about its Winter Parking Ban.
The reminder comes just after the first snowfall before winter. Director of Public Infrastructure Dan Koski explains that the mayor has the authority to call a Snow Emergency or Winter Parking Ban if snow is forecasted.
The Parking Ban means that no one is allowed to park on routes where salt trucks would put down salt for vehicles like buses and trucks, state highways, and county trunks within a city’s jurisdiction.
If someone is parked on the road with a Winter Parking ban sign, they could pay a $50 fine.
A snow emergency means that no parking is allowed on any street in the city.
Anyone parked would get a $75 fine during a snow emergency.
The city also says that a Winter Parking ban would still be in effect even after a street is plowed.
