The pool of candidates in the running to be the next Sheboygan Chief of Police has been narrowed to three.
At a special Board of Police and Fire Commissioners meeting in Sheboygan last week, Kurt Zempel, Joel Kuszynski, and Doug Teunissen were chosen as finalists.
Zempel is the current Assistant Chief and has been with the department since 2003.
Teunissen, Captain of Investigations, joined in 1997 and was promoted to captain in 2023.
Kuszynski is the current Sheboygan Police Captain of Patrol, with 23 years on the force.
Additionally, candidate William Adams was dismissed from the running at the meeting as he was deemed to not meet the requirements stated in the Police Chief job description.
Current Sheboygan Police Chief Chris Domagalski announced in early November that he would be retiring.
His last day will be January 20th.
The three finalists will now participate in additional interviews to determine who will fill Chief Domagalski’s vacancy.
