The former boys’ basketball coach at Ripon High School will stand trial for sexual assault of a child.
Mihai Schnell-Harrison was due in court Friday (November 22nd) for a preliminary hearing as he faces charges of Sexual Assault of a Student by School Staff, Exposing Genitals to a Child, Possession of Child Pornography, Child Enticement-Sexual Contact, and Exposing a Child to Harmful Material, all felony offenses.
However, he waived his right to that hearing and has since been bound over for trial.
Schnell-Harrison allegedly exchanged nude photos with a Ripon High School student before meeting up with them in the school parking lot.
There, it is alleged that Schnell-Harrison and the minor had physical and sexual contact.
Currently, the former basketball coach remains in custody under a $150,000 cash bond and no future court date has been scheduled at this time.
